Grand Master Saul M. Kim was born in Seoul, Korea in 1960. In 1972, at the age of 12, he received his first Dan. He was promoted to the rank of Grand Master 8th Dan in 2005 by his father, Grand Master Jae Joon Kim. He attended Henry Ford Community College and Eastern Michigan University under a full scholarship receiving an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.

While living in Detroit, Michigan and training at the family dojang, he assisted his father in the training of Detroit Mayor Coleman Young's body guard. During this period, he was an active and successful tournament competitor. He compiled an impressive record of over 120 trophies and medals from 1971 through 1982. This included the Grand Championship in Sparring, held at Madison Square Garden in New York City, directed by Henry Cho in 1973.. Grand Master Saul M. Kim currently teaches Tang Soo Do and Hap Ki Do at Federation Headquarters in Brandon, Florida. He has over 33 years of experience teaching karate and has taught over 400 students and 100 black belts.

To honor his father and his family, Grand Master Saul M. Kim has committed himself to continue developing and expanding the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation across the United States and around the world.
